Baseline study to collect pharma industry data regarding their involvement in and thoughts on advance market commitments for pnuemococcal vaccines
Funding: Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical Institute
January 1 2008 – January 1 2009
Following the publication of the Advanced Market Commitment (AMC) Monitoring and Evaluability Study, the GAVI Secretariat commissioned the Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) to conduct a Baseline Study for the pneumococcal vaccine AMC. The goal of the AMC Study was to establish the environment prior to the AMC as a basis for future evaluations, and it identified indicators related to the objectives of the AMC and populated them with baseline estimates, which determined the point of comparison for future monitoring and evaluation. The study also modelled counterfactual scenarios to serve as a basis for ascertaining the potential impact of the AMC vis-à-vis traditional financial and procurement strategies. Innogen was sub-contracted by SCIH to lead on the industry-level component of the baseline study.
