Development Policy and Practice
The Open University
Mary is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Open University. Her research interests are in global health governance, HIV and AIDS and the impact of stigma on the capabilities of vulnerable and marginalised people to influence health policy. Her PhD thesis explored the politics of health biotechnology innovation through qualitative research on community engagement in South African AIDS vaccine clinical trial sites.
Currently, she is researching the role of faith-based organisations in transnational advocacy networks and their influence on AIDS policy. This forms part of a broader concern with the values underpinning development politics and conceptions of social justice.
