Dr. Seife Ayele is responsible for facilitating the access and adoption of agricultural knowledge, as well as improved technologies that enhance productivity and income for smallholder farmers. His work ensures sustainable development.
He has over 20 years of experience in applied research, teaching and development practice, with a focus on agricultural innovation, science and technology policy and regulation, and institutional change.

Formerly, Dr. Ayele was a research scientist at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) based in Nairobi. There, he was involved in the design and implementation of research into innovation capacity development to improve the livelihoods of farmers. For ten years, he held a number of research positions, with some teaching responsibilities, at the Open University in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Ayele has conducted research in many countries, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Egypt, Mali, South Africa, Syria and Vietnam. He has published extensively and peer reviewed international journal articles on agricultural innovation and adoption, science and technology policy and regulation, and enterprise development. His professional career began as an economic planner and policy analyst in Ethiopia.

Dr. Ayele received a PhD from the Open University, an MA in International Development and a Postgraduate Diploma in the Economics of Public Policy from the University of East Anglia, in the United Kingdom. He holds a BA in Economics from Addis Ababa University.
