INNOGEN DIRECTOR POST
The post of Senior Lecturer / Innogen Director is now open for applications at STIS.
The School of Social and Political Sciences (SSPS) is seeking an outstanding individual with an international reputation in fields related to life science innovation and its governance, to take up the post of Senior Lecturer in Science, Technology and Innovation Studies (STIS).
The successful candidate will have a research profile at the cutting edge of Science, Technology and Innovation Studies or related areas. Contributions towards future Research Excellence Frameworks of research outputs and research impact of (at least) internationally excellent standard will be expected. He or she will demonstrate a breadth of experience and achievement in teaching, and a strong collegial commitment to the leadership of the subject area.
The post holder will, on an ongoing basis, contribute teaching and research in areas including the bio-economy, and policy areas related to innovation and governance. She or he will make leading contributions to the development and delivery of teaching at PG and UG levels, and of online distance learning (ODL) and continuous professional development (CPD) offerings as appropriate.
She or he will continue and expand collaborations between the social sciences, natural sciences and medicine, as well as with non-academic stakeholders and policymakers, contributing to the University’s reputation as world-leading in these expanding fields.
In relation to the above, the post holder will also, for three years in the first instance, contribute as the Director of the Innogen Institute, a pioneer in the interdisciplinary analysis of life science innovation processes and their governance. The Innogen Institute is a collaboration between the University of Edinburgh and the Open University, supported by a memorandum of understanding between the two organisations, and the post-holder will have an important role in managing that collaboration.
This full-time, open-ended Senior Lecturer post is available from 1 August 2016. The workload as Director will correlate to 0.2 FTE for its duration.
