Policy News: POSTnote on Livestock Emissions

Ann Bruce contributes to the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology’s POSTnote on Livestock Emissions.

As POST explains, ‘Livestock farming results in the emission of the greenhouse gases (GHG) methane and nitrous oxide. Such emissions are difficult to accurately quantify and control.’ As such, POSTnote 453 ‘examines current policy and prospects for further reductions in emissions.’

The POSTnote draws on Bruce’s ESRC funded project, ‘Mitigating the environmental impact of cattle and sheep: animal genetics and farmers’ readiness for uptake’ (www.burpingsheep.org).
