In the recent comment piece, ‘Back to school – using genetics to personalise education’ for BioNews, John Gillott discussed the debate surrounding the use and understanding of genetics and human differences in developing education policy.

Gillott explored recent statements by Dominic Cummings (outgoing special adviser to education secretary Michael Gove) and behaviour geneticist Robert Plomin on the heritability of cognitive capacity; particularly that 70 percent of the variation in IQ and IQ-type tests is down to genetics.
