The Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS) recent report, 'Animals containing human material' (July 2011) has sparked a heated dialogue around the question of how to regulate mixed human and animal embryos.
This prompted Innogen's Gill Haddow, Ann Bruce, Jane Calvert, Shawn Harmon and Wendy Marsden to blog about their view of how the regulatory landscape might be shaped to best oversee all human and animal mixtures regardless of the direction, nature, amount or purpose of the transfer.
