Taking Practical Action to challenge poverty

Congratulations to James Smith, now a trustee and board member of Practical Action


Practical Action work together with some of the world’s poorest women, men and children, helping to tackle poverty in the developing world through the innovative use of technology.

Professor James Smith brings extensive expertise to the NGO committed to international development. He is Director of Developing Countries Research at Innogen and will become the director of the University of Edinburgh's Global Development Academy when it is launched in autumn 2011.

James also works with a wide range of other NGOs on international development, including DfID's Research Into Use programme.
