Lessons for Interdisciplinarity

interdisciplinarity

Innogen’s recommendations on good practice in achieving successful interdisciplinary research are being immediately implemented by research councils.

The QUEST research team, led by Catherine Lyall, recently shared key lessons to promote greater interdisciplinary at a briefing meeting attended by the NERC Director of Science Delivery and Head of Research and representatives from ESRC.

The recommendations are being implemented by the research councils and further disseminated to the NERC research programme ‘Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation’ (ESPA); the RCUK research directors group; and the Living with Environmental Change (LWEC) partnership. The meeting has also led to discussions around the delivery of an Interdisciplinary Masterclasses in collaboration with ESPA.

The QUEST project has produced a set of ‘Short Guides’ on Interdisciplinary, which will be referenced by RCUK in their development of guidelines for reviewers of interdisciplinary proposals.
