Rampaul Chamba awarded Phil Strong Memorial Prize

The 2010 recipient of the British Sociological Association prize is Innogen PhD student Rampaul Chamba for research in medical sociology.

Innogen PhD student, Rampaul Chamba, recently won the 2010 British Sociological Association Medical Sociology Phil Strong Memorial Prize.

The purpose of the prize is to contribute to the advancement of medical sociology by supporting post-graduate research in this field.

Rampaul's research is entitled 'Bio-medical and Social Explanations for Schizophrenia among Black African-Caribbean People'.

The prize was established in memory of Phil Strong (1945-1995) one of the post-war generation of sociologists who influenced the development of medical sociology in the UK.
