Promotion for Innogen Co-Director

James Smith

Professor James Smith has been promoted to Personal Chair in African and Development Studies at the University of Edinburgh.

 


James will continue his work at Innogen as Director of Developing Countries Research and will also become the first director of the University of Edinburgh's Global Development Academy, due to launch in autumn 2011. He also holds a Senior Visiting Fellowship in Development Policy and Practice at the Open University.


James is also an advisor on DfID's Research Into Use programme and he has experience working with donors, development agencies and NGOs including DfID, IDRC, CIDA, the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research, the World Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Oxfam and the New Partnership for Africa's Development. 


His latest book, Biofuels and the Globalisation of Risk, will be published by Zed Books, in the autumn.
