Abstract:

The big pharmaceutical firms seem to be surviving new biology. There have been, as yet, no society shattering technology changes to match the PC, the mobile or the internet. The long term sectoral dominance of multinational pharma companies has been remarkable. During a fifty year period when the
auto- and electrical industries have been dramatically transformed, the drug pipeline system has endured. But can this last?

Dave will focus on some of the changes, using results from colleagues in Innogen. He will look at changes both within the core pharma industry but also the growth of Indian pharmaceuticals and the prospects for high-tech start-ups.
