Innovation Generation: Shaping a New World

Wednesday, 6 November 2013: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

What would life be like if there was no such thing as incurable disease, hunger and pollution? A better and more equitable world is within our reach, but creating it requires new thinking on the social, economic and governance structures that encourage innovation. This engaging, multimedia event will bring to life Innogen's powerful 21st century intelligence on the new life sciences and emerging technologies that are shaping our future job prospects, medical treatments, well-being, and the economies and environments we live in.

Participants will experience rapid fire ideas on:

  • Creating a Thriving Global Bioeconomy - Innogen works to understand the social and economic drivers behind innovation and will present its vision for creating a thriving global bioeconomy.
  • Adaptive Governance for Innovative Technology - Drawing on the debate around GMOs and synthetic biology, Innogen will explore the need for a governance system that is enabling of innovation, minimises risk to people and the environment, and balances the interests and values of all stakeholders.
  • Innovations for Pro-Poor Growth - Innogen will put forward its thinking on promoting and supporting entrepreneurship to raise the income, welfare and agency of the poorest in society.

A reception will follow the event, offering the opportunity for participants to engage with the speakers and develop new ideas of their own that will be projected around the venue.
